How it all started...
The Compton Candle Company was founded in 2019 by Steve and Graham in a charming village on the outskirts of Sherborne, in the heart of the Dorset countryside.
What began as a small hobby quickly grew into something much more. After 30 years working as a travel agent, I was encouraged by Graham (a long-serving cabin crew member) to find a new passion - though he was hoping for something outdoors! Instead, a small starter kit of candle supplies from Amazon sparked the idea. Starting with sales to neighbours in the village, we soon began attending local craft fairs and markets, before expanding further online.
Like many small businesses, lockdown put things on pause - though our Etsy shop thrived during that time. Now, The Compton Candle Company is busier than ever, with Graham lending a hand whenever he’s home. Every product is still lovingly handmade in our home studio in small batches, with care, attention to detail, and a genuine passion for scent in every piece.

Our candles and reed diffusers are lovingly handcrafted in a small village near Sherborne, Dorset, using only high-quality fragrances and carefully chosen materials.
Every product we make is vegan, cruelty-free, and thoughtfully packaged, with most of our packaging being recyclable or made from recycled materials.
We know that choosing a fragrance online isn’t always easy. That’s why we’ve created “Try Before You Buy.” For just £5, you can select up to five sample sticks, each infused with your chosen fragrance oils. We’ll send them to you individually sealed in small zip-lock bags, so you can explore and discover your perfect scent from the comfort of home.
Our Ingredients
Unlike many mass-produced High Street brands that rely on paraffin wax, our candles are made exclusively with sustainably sourced soy wax.
Soy wax burns at a lower temperature, creating a cleaner, longer-lasting flame while producing less soot and fewer airborne particles.
